HISTORY & OBJECTIVES

The North Jamaica Mission ASI Chapter was organized in April 2003. Since then the chapter has been working on programs and projects in order to fulfill its mission in sharing Christ in the Marketplace.

In 2004 under the leadership of Mr. Horace Henry, its first President, and Pastor Wellesley H. Gunter, Secretary-Treasurer, the Chapter assisted some victims of Hurricane Ivan with food, and money to repair and build houses. An adult literacy class with over twenty (20) students was established in a St. Ann community.

During the past year, Mrs. Judy Morgan took over as the second President and with the assistance of ASI over thirty (30) souls were led to Christ. One ASI member conducted a crusade in which ten (10) souls were baptized and as a result of financial contribution to another crusade, twenty two (22) souls were rescued for Jesus.

This year (2006) we have embarked on a project to obtain certification in collaboration with HEART Trust to obtain certificates of competence for individuals who are skilled in various trades and or professions and are unable to secure meaningful employment. The response is very good. Over one hundred (100) men and women, mostly young people, are already registered to be tested.

ASI is an organization within the Seventh-day Adventist Church for business and professional members. They come together to pool ideas and resources in order to assist the poor and needy in the church and community, and to spread the love of Jesus with all whom they serve and interact.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

  • Marketplace Ministry--to lead employees, customers and clients to Christ
  • Assist church leaders in Evangelism and church planting
  • Assist suffering humanity, especially street people-adults and children
  • Conduct basic English classes so that adults can learn to read and write
  • Organize for the assessment and issuing certificates of competence to persons in the church and community with basic skills in harmony with the HEART Trust NTA in an effort to reduce unemployment
  • Support basic school education in the Mission
  • Establish and operate a home for the aged.
  • Make further contribution towards the establishment of a health and wellness centre in the North Jamaica Mission
  • Your contributions will help us to achieve these objectives. Send contributions to North Jamaica Mission ASI
