North Jamaica Mission's Rhondene Wint is the 2008 WIU Bible Bowl Winner

North Jamaica Mission's finalist Rhondene Wint captured the coveted first place title in the West Indies Union Bible Bowl finals with a whopping score of 520 points, giving her the highest score standing ever in West Indies Union Conference since the inception of the Bible Bowl Competition in 2004. The book of Isaiah was the course of study for the competition which took place on Saturday afternoon, November 1, 2008 in the main chapel at Northern Caribbean University.

Rhondene has not only distinguished herself with leading points of 220 over the second place winner, Warren Brady with 300 points, but has also topped the WIU 2007 finalist, Karlene Johnson points standing of 330 and the 2006 finalist Natalie Reid with 275 points.

According to the West Indies Union Conference Youth Director, Pastor Charles Blythe, "This is the highest score that I have ever seen in the life of the Bible Bowl Competition. We have never had anyone going over 400 points in West Indies Union or at the Division level of the competition. This is the best I have ever seen at any level!" Not only have Rhondene's winning scores caused a stir, but her winning time edged her above her six competitors, with a close-off time of 8 minutes and 27 seconds.

Pastor Gary Buddoo-Fletcher, Youth Director for North Jamaica Mission states, "It is not the first competition for North Jamaica Mission. However, it is a first time win for us and we are extremely ecstatic about our winning with such strong points and her speed was fantastic."

On her victory, Rhondene states, "God has been tremendously good, because after the first round I felt confident and assured. I became very relaxed and I took it easy. Now that I have won, I really feel elated right now, I am feeling great. But I won't let this crowd my vision for the Inter-American Division finals."
