PROFILE

Karl Anthony Archer was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He later moved to Carey Park, Duncans, Trelawny where he attended the Duncans All Age School and the William Knibb Memorial High School. In pursuit of becoming an Electrical Engineer, he enrolled in the College of Arts Science and Technology (CAST), now the University of Technology (UTECH), and graduated with his diploma in 1986.

While studying at CAST, the devout Baptist Christian was introduced to the Sabbath message through ‘The Carter Report’, an evangelistic series held at the National Stadium in 1986, conducted by world renowned evangelist Pastor John Carter. While he didn’t attend the meetings, Karl received a copy of the book the National Sunday Law; he read it, studied the book of Revelation and on February 19, 1987 was baptized at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Duncans. This of course was the beginning of a unique expedition; his call to the gospel ministry.

A year later, Pastor Archer began his studies at West Indies College, now Northern Caribbean University where he graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology. Currently he is pursuing a Masters degree in Pastoral Ministry – Leadership and Human Resource Management.

Karl Archer was first employed by West Jamaica Conference on February 1, 1993 and five years later he was ordained. He served as pastor to the following districts in West Jamaica: Westgreen, Champers Pen, Falmouth and Lucea. In 2002 he was called to North Jamaica Mission and served as the Stewardship, Youth Ministries Director, and later the Sabbath School, Personal Ministries and Community Services Director. He also served as district pastor of the Ocho Rios, Exchange, St. Ann’s Bay and Brown’s Town districts.

On March 26, 2009, at the West Indies Union Conference Executive Committee, Pastor Archer was appointed as Secretary of North Jamaica Mission. His unique expedition continued, as, at the first quadrennial session of North Jamaica Conference held January 9 and 10, 2010 he was elected to serve as the first President of the North Jamaica Conference. He along with the officers and directors were installed on January 10.

Pastor Karl Archer is an avid football player who enjoys reading mostly Seventh day-Adventist literature. He believes that men should strive to emulate what was said of Christ, “He lived to bless others.” Desire of Ages pg 70.

He is strongly supported in ministry by his wife Elesa Marsh to whom he has been married since July 31, 1995.
