North Jamaica Mission Youth Empowered In Service at Youth Summit

The North Jamaica Mission Youth Leaders Summit, held on May 5 & 6, 2007 at the Mission's headquarters in Drax Hall, St. Ann, was spearheaded by Pastor Gary Buddoo-Fletcher, Youth Director, North Jamaica Mission. The main presenter was Pastor Charles Blythe, Youth Director of West Indies Union Conference.

During his presentation, Pastor Blythe quoted from the Pathfinder Leadership Award (PLA) Manual, "This is part-one of the most current leadership development programme for youth ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This concept uses the Master Guides as the foundation for junior youth ministry leadership, then builds two (2) levels of continuing education which will help keep youth leaders sharp, up-to-date, and focused on why we are in this business."

"The Youth Leaders Summit is a youth leadership training programme for youth leaders who are involved in training other senior youth. At the completion of the programme, each participant will be certified with a Pathfinder Leadership Award, which comes in the form of a patch or a pin. This is usually worn on the uniform of the respective invested youth leader", Pastor Fletcher added.

The approximately thirty-five (35) persons who were in attendance consisted of Federation Officers and Area Coordinators, all testified that they have gleaned much from the seminars and are looking forward to Part two which will be held August 31 to September 2, 2007
